Songs of Deliverance

In Psalm 3, David is crying out to God over a messy family situation. After years of building alliances and strategizing, his son, Absalom launches a full scale, deceitful plot to overthrow David's kingdom and take control of the throne.
Verses 1 and 2 say:
O LORD, how my adversaries have increased!
Many are rising up against me.
Many are saying of my soul,
"There is no deliverance for him in God."
Forces are coming against the king, maliciously snarling...”God will not help you, David”!
But, David knows where his help comes from.

In the very next verse, he says:
But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
At another low spot in David’s life, he declared to the Lord:
You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7
Yesterday, just as I was writing about how music is an awesome gift, I received an email
that said:
“Yesterday you kept popping in my head and every time I thought of you that song
"Our God is Greater" was coming to mind.”
Water You turned into wine
Open the eyes of the blind
There’s no one like You
None like You
Into the darkness You shine
Out of the ashes we rise
There’s no one like You
None like You
Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God, Our God…
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
What can stand against?
~“Our God”-Chris Tomlin
This is a song of deliverance! A declaration of God’s mighty power and His ability to protect, defend and heal us. A Christian anthem of victory! Victory which is now ours, because of what Jesus accomplished at the cross.
It has been said that music is language of the soul.
When we listen to His truths in song, they penetrate deep into our hearts, bypassing our logic.
Logic can get in the way of faith.
Since my previous post (the word is out- I’m a lyric-girl)
I have received a few more songs via email.
The connection became clear....I am being surrounded by “songs of deliverance.”
I want you to be surrounded, also.
If a song comes to mind that has helped you through a difficult time, and you want to do this,  post the link in the comment box,  so we can all be surrounded by songs of deliverance! You never know how the Lord might use it to lift someones’s head to trust in Him. And maybe you’ll even find yourself singing along...;)
I’ll start us off, with one of my favorites by Evan Wickham called "Our Deliverer"

The LORD your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

  7. At first glance this might not seem like a song of deliverance, but it is. Sometimes deliverance means just being held while the storm still appears to engulf you. ;)

"We're asking why this happens to us
Who have died to live, it's unfair...

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life And you survive

This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
    We'd be held

    This hand is bitterness
We want to taste it and
Let the hatred numb our sorrows

    The wise hand opens slowly
To lilies of the valley and tomorrow

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life And you survive

This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
    We'd be held

If hope if born of suffering
If this is only the beginning
Can we not wait, for one hour
    Watching for our Savior

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
    And you survive

This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
    We'd be held"

  14. Oh how we need to TRUST HIM....our deliverer!
    http://youtu.be/2MgboThkiBI

    close your eyes
    take a step
    it’s ok
    i know where we’re going

    don’t fret
    i’ve been before
    through these valleys
down these long and dangerous roads
    yet dark as they seem

    trust me
    though you can’t see
    you can trust me
    the way may be steep
    you can trust me
    let me lead...trust me

    open your eyes
but don’t let go of my hand
let your tears give way to smiles
see the joy inside the trial

don’t worry you’re safe with me around
rest assured i’m on your side
i won’t let you hit the ground
    but close as it seems..

it’s true that what’s in front of you
    isn’t always clear
but you must believe it in your heart
    that i’m here - i’m here!

  18. Lisa, I don't know how to post a link but a song that God always gives me in difficult times is God Will Make A Way (im sorry, I'm not even sure who sings it.
    God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
    He will make a way.

    He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way for me.

Am praying for you and your family daily.
    Gods peace to you
    Lori

Lisa, God bless you as you listen to this song "Let the Waters Rise" by Mikeschair.
It has truly blessed me. When everything seems to be ragging. We can trust God is in the eye of the storm and the calm of the sea. He is always faithful!! His Love is enough to pull us through.
I want to thank you for being so faithful updating your blog. I am lifting you and your family daily to Precious Heavenly Father!!
    Love in Christ, Dee Ann

  21. You are God, by the Katinas

    Creator of all things
    Healer of my being
    Through your righteousness
    I've been redeemed
    Forgiven by your grace
    Your joy is my strength
    When everything has changed
    you stay the same

    You are God
    Bright and Morning Star
When I'm down you lift me up
You're the Lover of my heart
    You are God
    Mender of my soul
You're the rain that makes my whole
    You are God

    Ever-present help
    Savior of my life
Everything I have belongs to you
My time is in your hands
    My purpose is your will
    I know that you'll provide
    so I'II be still

    You are God
    Bright and Morning Star
When I'm down you lift me up
You are the Lover of my heart
    You are God
    Mender of my soul
You are the rain that makes me whole

    You are the One
    that delivers me
It's not because of what I am
    but who You are

    Chorus (2X)

    You are God
    You're my provider
    When I'm down
    You lift me higher
    When I'm weak
    You are the fire
    that turns me into gold
    You are God
    Alpha, Omega
    Take my life
    Lord I surrender
You're the rain that makes me whole
    You are God

This song has always helped me during those difficult times. Praying for you and your family.

    In Him, Danielle
