Casualties of War

A couple of nights ago, I watched a movie with my mom that portrayed a pretty intense battle scene.
Taking place in the late 1800‘s, it involved hand to hand combat with one side having various guns and ammo, while the other side had only swords to fight with.
Needless to say, there were many casualties and naturally only the main character survived.
Last Tuesday night, I began my cancer treatment-a targeted gene therapy in a pill form that attacks an epidermal enzyme that makes the cancer grow.
As I took it that first night we prayed and my 17 year old chanted “kill it, kill it!"
Indeed that is the goal.
In every war there are casualties and I was warned that this would have side affects, but nothing prepared me for what I am dealing with now.
My entire head is covered in painful pustules (very gross I know) that are just continually oozing. I cannot wash my hair or touch my head as this makes it worse
The doctors had to take me off cancer drug two days ago and are now trying a second antibiotic as of today and pain pills
( thankfully) to alleviate the problem. They said they have never seen as bad of a reaction as this.
This is a quick and desperate shout out to ask for prayer. I definitely can relate with Job on this level, but he did not have any pain meds, so he was in much worse shape.
Please pray that this gets under control. That the infection stops and that somehow by God’s grace and intervention I could go back on the cancer drug.
I am at His mercy and in His hands.
Love you and thank you so much.

  5. Dear Lisa, you have my most heartfelt prayers to be swiftly delivered from this affliction. I also pray that if this door of treatment closes for you that our dear Lord will open one that will be even more effective for you.

  6. Lisa, Thanks for sharing what you are going through. It's so important that we who know the road of cancer support each other by sharing with each other the effects of various treatments. Because of your trial, I've decided to forego taking Tarceva and am looking into an alternate method. Sister, I pray the Lord will heal you quickly and get you on the best road for treatment. Thinking of you daily.....Cherrie

  14. Dying with Jesus, by death reckoned mine;
    Living with Jesus, a new life divine;
    Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine,
    Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
    Refrain:
    Moment by moment I’m kept in His love;
    Moment by moment I’ve life from above;
    Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;
    Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
    Never a trial that He is not there,
    Never a burden that He doth not bear,
    Never a sorrow that He doth not share,
    Moment by moment, I’m under His care.
    Never a heartache, and never a groan,
    Never a teardrop, and never a moan;
    Never a danger but there on the throne,
    Moment by moment He thinks of His own.
    Never a weakness that He doth not feel,
    Never a sickness that He cannot heal;
    Moment by moment, in woe or in weal,
    Jesus my Savior abides with me still.
    These words from this hymn comfort me in times like these! When we have more questions than answers. When we have come to the end of the road, the end of our strength, wondering whether we can hang in one more second, I repeat the words of this hymn and let the God of all comfort remind me that it is a moment by moment endurance race with Jesus by our sides. Much love and continual prayers being lifted up for you at this moment!!! JoAnn Edwards

  16. Lisa I don't know you personally but I attend calvary. I pray for your healing also since I know how you must feel. I dont have cancer but I have a disease that has no cure or treatment "gastroparesis" basically my stomach has shut down on me and no longer digests my food. Well I don't want to go on about me, but I am inspired by your strong faith and reminds me what God is capable of. I hope you can get put back on the other meds and get this junk out of your body. I pray for your healing in Jesus name. Amen
